Rail company digitizes business and empowers employee adoption with technology training

Sncf, France’s national rail operator with 270,000 employees, launched a "Digital for All" initiative to involve frontline workers in building digital solutions and to reduce manual, error-prone processes. To make development accessible to non‑developers, Sncf adopted Microsoft Power Apps (along with Power BI, Microsoft Flow, and SharePoint) and rolled out internal and online training to drive employee adoption.

Using Microsoft Power Apps, Sncf trained hundreds of staff and created more than 150 apps used by tens of thousands of employees, while Power BI dashboards provide real‑time monitoring of app quality and distribution. The platform delivered measurable improvements — for example, a bogie‑rebuild app (used by 20+ workers) helped cut the prior 70% rate of unsatisfactory paired bogies substantially, reduced errors, increased reliability, and sped up production, all while empowering teams to innovate.
