‘Power On' Grid operator Bayernwerk increases occupational safety with Power Apps

Bayernwerk Netz GmbH, a large German grid operator, needed to replace time-consuming paper checklists for substations and construction sites to improve occupational safety and gain real insights from inspection data. They turned to Microsoft Power Apps (alongside Microsoft 365, Teams, Power Automate and Power BI) to digitize site inspections and incident reporting in high-voltage (110 kV) environments.

Using Microsoft Power Apps, the Network Services team built an in‑house HSE App that captures inspections, accidents and near‑misses, stores entries via Power Automate, notifies responsible teams through Microsoft Teams, and feeds Power BI dashboards. The solution removed paper forms, sped up reporting and response, and produced measurable dashboards showing accident counts, defect types and recurring issues—enabling Bayernwerk Netz to spot patterns, take preventive measures, improve onsite safety, save time and resources, and scale the approach across the business.
