Monroe One BOCES removes paper trail with Power Apps

Monroe One BOCES, a large K–12 cooperative serving 46,000+ students across numerous New York districts, was hampered by a paper-based workers’ compensation process: nurses recorded injuries by hand, HR retyped and mailed or faxed documents, and each claim generated about 23 pieces of paper, causing delays and limited visibility. To modernize reporting, the organization turned to Microsoft Power Apps (after an initial phase with Microsoft Forms) to digitize the intake process.

By implementing Microsoft Power Apps and leveraging its built-in connectors to integrate disparate datasets, Monroe One BOCES automated form entry, broke down data silos, and enabled faster analysis for resource planning. The solution cut processing time from more than an hour to roughly five minutes, revealed incident hotspots for targeted interventions, and by mid‑2019 saved over 12,000 sheets of paper and the associated printing costs.
