A Microsoft Power Apps Case Study
Memphis-Shelby County Schools, a large K–12 district in the United States, faced cumbersome, time‑consuming data entry and reporting that outpaced available solutions. To avoid costly replacements and gain faster insights, the district adopted Microsoft Power Apps (alongside Power Automate and Power BI) to create custom, low‑code tools for data collection and reporting.
Using Microsoft Power Apps, the Strategic Programming and Innovation team built apps including a coaching toolkit, a behavior prevention/intervention system, and a charter compliance portal, integrated with Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse and Azure SQL. The new tools improved transparency, responsiveness, and auditability, delivered dramatically lower deployment costs compared to legacy options, and the behavior prevention system is estimated to save the district about $300K annually.
