McLaren Automotive - Customer Case Study

McLaren Automotive, the British supercar maker, needed greater end-to-end visibility across design, manufacturing and post-sales while protecting highly valuable IP and avoiding costly SAP outages (estimated ~£250k/day). To gain agility, resilience and better analytics it moved its SAP estate to Microsoft Azure and adopted Microsoft technologies across the stack, including Microsoft Power Apps to surface SAP data and Dynamics 365 for customer data.

Using Microsoft Power Apps alongside SAP on Azure and Azure platform services, McLaren implemented a resilient SAP HANA architecture with Availability Zones, ExpressRoute, Azure Firewall and an Azure Data Lake to unify manufacturing, CRM and digital analytics. The six‑month migration finished without downtime, SAP now runs with no reported outages, and McLaren expects six‑figure annual cloud hosting savings (with up to 70% savings via reserved instances), faster provisioning, Power Apps shopfloor and customer-facing apps, Power BI reporting to board level, and inventory improvements measured in tens of millions of pounds.
