Machines raise their voice when they need help Bosch’s Digital Twin – IAPM takes human–machine collaboration to the next level

Bosch, a global manufacturing leader, faced the challenge of keeping long‑lived rotating machines running reliably while avoiding unnecessary preventative part replacements and unplanned downtime. To tackle this, Bosch developed an Integrated Asset Performance Management (IAPM) Digital Twin on Microsoft Azure and connected it with Microsoft Power Apps (alongside Azure IoT Hub, Azure Digital Twins, Dynamics 365, HoloLens 2 and Microsoft Teams) to make machine condition visible in real time and predict when maintenance is truly needed.

Using Microsoft Power Apps to trigger alerts from the Azure IoT Hub–fed Digital Twin, Bosch routes notifications to on‑equipment Teams consoles and handheld devices, creates Dynamics 365 service tickets, and enables remote expert support with HoloLens 2 and Remote Assist. The end‑to‑end solution enabled predictive maintenance that cuts unnecessary parts replacements, improves operational efficiency and energy use, reduces maintenance stress, and earned Bosch the Microsoft Intelligent Manufacturing Award 2021 in the Add Value! category.
