Case Study: Arriva achieves improved operational efficiency and collaboration with Microsoft Power Apps

A Microsoft Power Apps Case Study

Preview of the Arriva Case Study

London bus operator builds custom apps for improved efficiency and collaboration

Arriva London (Arriva) operates more than 100 routes with 1,600 buses and 4,000 drivers, delivering some 400 million passenger journeys a year while needing to meet strict Transport for London (TfL) performance, safety, and compliance standards. Faced with paper-based processes, a largely long‑service workforce unfamiliar with enterprise apps, and the need to improve route management, staff monitoring, and cost control, Arriva turned to Microsoft Power Apps—leveraging Microsoft Flow, Office 365, and SharePoint—to create easy-to-use mobile solutions.

Using Microsoft Power Apps and Microsoft Flow, Arriva built custom apps to monitor live controller performance, trigger absence/late email notifications, support GDPR compliance, and enable engineers to log mechanical incidents with GPS, photos, and barcode scanning; additional apps streamline schedule proposals and SharePoint action lists. Microsoft Power Apps has already delivered measurable efficiencies with two successful apps in production, increased transparency and collaboration across teams, sped up repair response and daily workflows, and positioned Arriva to scale app development across the organization.
