Leading Dutch energy company improves access to collaborative workspaces, increases productivity with user-friendly app

Eneco, a leading Dutch energy company serving 2.2 million households, struggled with room availability and booking at its Rotterdam headquarters where nearly 3,000 employees competed for meeting and quiet-work spaces across 14 floors. Relying on Exchange room bookings and paper sign-up sheets created wasted time, duplicate bookings, and offsite meeting costs, so Eneco engaged partner Macaw and turned to Microsoft Power Apps and other Office 365 services to solve the problem.

Macaw built a RoomFinder app using Microsoft Power Apps, Microsoft Flow, SharePoint, and Power BI, deploying the solution in about five weeks to automate reservations, reminders, and cancellations and to monitor usage. The Microsoft Power Apps–based solution eliminated paper notes, enabled mobile booking, opened access to ~200 smaller rooms, and increased cross-floor collaboration; development costs were roughly one-third of an OutSystems build and the app reduced external meeting spend while giving Eneco actionable usage insights via Power BI.
