Case Study: Rockwell Automation achieves enterprise self-service analytics and faster data-driven decisions with Microsoft Power Apps

A Microsoft Power Apps Case Study

Preview of the Rockwell Automation Case Study

Industrial automation firm creates CoE to train users and ensure value with data analytics

Rockwell Automation, a global industrial automation leader, faced a fragmented, self‑managed analytics landscape that limited agility and self‑service reporting. To centralize data and empower business users, the company partnered with Microsoft technologies—including Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Power Automate and Microsoft Power Apps—to move from IaaS to a modern PaaS analytics architecture and scale advanced analytics across the enterprise.

Using a Microsoft modern data‑warehouse reference architecture, Rockwell implemented Azure PaaS services for ingestion, transformation and storage, layered Azure Synapse and Analysis Services for marts, and embedded apps and workflows with Power BI and Microsoft Power Apps. The vendor‑driven solution enabled rapid delivery (an HR Power Apps + Power BI solution was developed and rolled out in three weeks), drove strong user adoption (400+ signups for the Power BI “Power Hours” kickoff within 24 hours), increased self‑service reporting, reduced total cost of ownership, and accelerated advanced analytics and CI/CD enablement across the organization.
