Hospice in the Weald discovered a staff rostering solution with Akita and Dynamics 365

Hospice in the Weald, a UK charity with about 200 staff and 1,000+ volunteers providing end-of-life care, faced a complex rostering challenge: staff must request shifts that require manager approval, and each department has different skills and quotas that off‑the‑shelf products couldn’t handle. Working with partner Akita, the organisation adopted Microsoft Power Apps alongside Dynamics 365 Field Service to build a tailored rostering solution.

Akita delivered the Dynamics Shift Booking System using Dynamics 365 Field Service for management and reporting and a Power Apps Portal (Microsoft Power Apps) as the simple self-service frontend. The system enables 24/7 booking from any device, provides live Excel-refreshed reporting for managers, exports accurate data for payroll, eliminated overpayments, reduced wage costs and manager time, and improved utilisation of patient-facing staff.
