Healthcare nonprofit empowers its people to improve processes, respond faster with Power Automate

Partners In Health (PIH), a Boston-based social justice and healthcare nonprofit serving communities in 11 countries, needed to modernize a complex, distributed set of manual processes and improve visibility across global teams. To give staff low-code tools to automate tasks and share data, PIH adopted Microsoft Power Apps along with Power Automate, Power BI, and SharePoint Online to streamline workflows and reduce bottlenecks.

Using Microsoft Power Apps, PIH built Power Automate flows for travel approvals, COVID-19 contact tracing, Power BI audit exports, and procurement requests, enabling about 30 citizen developers to create solutions organization-wide; today they run 98 flows roughly 31,800 times per month. The automation helped coordinate over 1,500 trips in just over two years, raised COVID-19 contact rates from ~50% to 80–90%, improved reporting and compliance, and delivered measurable time savings and faster decision making.
