Grocery chain in northern California and southern Oregon boosts customer relationships with custom app

North State Grocery, a regional grocery chain serving northern California and southern Oregon, faced a growing customer-service bottleneck: its 28-year-old Microsoft Access process for tracking customer requests for new products required heavy manual work by a small customer service team, limited who could act on requests, and risked tasks falling through the cracks. To modernize and broaden access while leveraging existing Office 365 tools, North State Grocery worked with SkyLite Systems and adopted a solution built around Microsoft Power Apps with SharePoint Online and Microsoft Flow.

SkyLite built a customized Microsoft Power Apps form tied to SharePoint lists and 11 automated Microsoft Flow processes to route alerts and updates to buyers, store managers and customer service—no new software required. The rollout scaled the user base to more than 50 users, supports nearly 300,000 customer records and 1,200 items with about 50 new requests per week, and delivers an estimated time savings of at least 15 minutes per customer contact, improving follow-through and increasing the value of the company’s Office 365 investment.
