Global energy company uses Power Apps to empower its workforce on the way to digital transformation

Centrica, a global UK energy company, rapidly saw business teams building departmental apps after moving to Office 365 and using Microsoft Power Apps. This created a governance and visibility challenge for IT—how to detect, support and ensure compliance for user-created apps and avoid shadow IT while reducing the manual effort required to onboard and monitor those apps.

Working with Microsoft Services and Microsoft Power Apps, Centrica implemented an automated governance model and a Power Apps Center of Excellence with training, a “Champify” onboarding app, and telemetry-driven monitoring; a three-week blueprint led to full implementation. The result: 300 IT-compliant apps globally, time-to-market for new apps shrank from months to days, and Centrica gained scalable discoverability, traceability and compliance for its Power Apps estate.
