Hexion, a global chemical manufacturer with about 200 sales and marketing staff across 14 countries, needed a fast, affordable way to capture business-card leads directly into its CRM after moving to Dynamics 365. To replace a third‑party tool and support conference workflows (where reps might scan up to 100 cards), Hexion sought a customizable, easy‑to‑use solution that integrated with existing Microsoft investments and could be deployed quickly — using Microsoft Power Apps and related Power Platform capabilities.
Using Microsoft Power Apps, Hexion built the ScanIt canvas app with AI Builder to scan cards, store results in SharePoint Online, and push data into Common Data Service via Azure Logic Apps; the solution was delivered in under six weeks and the sales team scanned more than 250 cards in the first week. The approach removed reliance on third‑party tools, improved data quality and consistency, enabled mobile use at events, and leveraged 80+ Power Automate flows companywide to automate downstream actions and drive faster, more accurate follow‑up.
