G&J Pepsi pours in-house expertise into perfect apps with low-code Power Apps driven by Power Automate

G&J Pepsi-Cola Bottlers, Inc., the largest family-owned Pepsi franchise bottler in the U.S., faced time-consuming, manual workflows across field operations, budgeting, store audits, onboarding, and logistics while wanting to avoid costly external development. To modernize quickly with in-house talent, they adopted Microsoft Power Apps as part of the broader Microsoft Power Platform (including Power Automate, Power BI, Azure and related services) to build mobile and process automation solutions.

Using Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate integrated with Azure, Power BI and Azure SQL Database, G&J built low-code apps—like a store-audit app, a budgeting app, a Cold Space Allocator, and a Parking Lot app—that reached about 900 field users and automated more than 100 workflows. The vendor-driven solution saved an estimated $500,000 in the first year and about $1.5 million to date in development costs, licensing avoidance, and efficiency gains, cut mobile data overages by roughly $5,000/month, eliminated a $15,000/year subscription, and saved drivers 20–30 minutes daily.
