Gelsenwasser AG, a large German utility providing water, energy, sewage and IT services to subsidiaries, was constrained by entrenched paper‑based workflows and growing capacity limits — from authorization forms that were printed and scanned multiple times to field teams using clipboards that produced illegible reports in bad weather. To digitalize offline-capable internal processes for facility management, groundwater measurement and construction inspections, the company chose Microsoft Power Apps alongside Azure Active Directory, Power Automate, Teams and Dynamics 365.

Using Microsoft Power Apps, Gelsenwasser AG rapidly built apps that validate entries, attach photos, generate PDFs and store records in the right systems, all integrated with Azure AD and Teams. Apps are produced in days, handed back to departments to reduce IT load, and have cut repetitive print/scan steps, accelerated fault reporting, reduced delays in damage recording and lowered administrative effort — creating a scalable “assembly line” for further digitalization and planned Dynamics 365 and AI rollouts.
