A Microsoft Power Apps Case Study
Florida State University (FSU) set out to reimagine student engagement for digitally native Gen Z learners and to ensure continuity when COVID-19 forced rapid shifts to remote instruction. FSU’s Campus Reimagined initiative needed scalable, easy-to-use technology to personalize learning, enable two-way interaction, and support hybrid classrooms; they partnered with Microsoft, deploying Microsoft Teams alongside low-code solutions built with Microsoft Power Apps.
By combining Microsoft Teams for collaboration with custom apps created in Microsoft Power Apps, FSU delivered a gameboard-style syllabus, 100+ short on‑demand lectures, real-time polling and voting, personalized recommendations, and video reflections. The approach minimized disruption during the pandemic, sustained high student engagement (many called it a favorite course), and produced a repeatable, scalable model that FSU is expanding with Microsoft Power Apps and the broader Power Platform to deepen personalization and data-driven teaching.
