A Microsoft Power Apps Case Study

EY helps enable entry at source for a global finance process with Power Platform, reducing lead times by 95 percent

Ernst & Young, a global professional services firm serving hundreds of thousands of clients, faced an error-prone, semi-manual General Ledger (GL) posting process—finance teams prepared data in Excel and emailed it for approvals, then relied on a third‑party tool to post into SAP—causing delays, data discrepancies, and month‑end pressure. To modernize entry-at-source and eliminate manual handoffs, EY turned to Microsoft Power Apps (as part of Microsoft Power Platform) to reengineer the workflow.

Using Microsoft Power Apps together with Power Automate, Dataverse, the pre-built SAP connector and an on‑premises data gateway, EY built the PowerPost app to provide on-screen validation, approvals, dashboards, and direct SAP posting. The Microsoft Power Apps solution reduced end-to-end lead times by 95% in trials, is projected to cut operational costs by more than 30%, was piloted to 250 users, and is rolling out globally.
