EY automates customer payment processing using Power Platform, saving 230,000 hours annually

Ernst & Young (EY) faced a massive reconciliation challenge: about 1.5 million client payments a year with only 30% automatically matched and cleared in SAP, leaving 70% for time-consuming manual research and posting. To address this, EY turned to the Microsoft Power Apps / Power Platform portfolio (including Power Apps, Power Automate, Microsoft Dataverse and AI Builder) to streamline cash application.

Using Microsoft Power Apps, EY’s four‑developer team built PowerMatch — a canvas app with Power Automate flows, Dataverse storage, AI Builder for data extraction and prebuilt SAP connectors — in under four months. The solution raised automatic match-and-clear rates from 30% to 80%, leaves 15% automatically matched but manually cleared, and reduces manual work to 5%, delivering the projected savings of about 230,000 hours annually.
