A Microsoft Power Apps Case Study
Ernst & Young (EY) faced a fast-moving challenge when the CARES Act’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) required rapid, low-cost processing of changing loan‑forgiveness rules for banks and borrowers. EY turned to Microsoft Power Apps (part of Microsoft Power Platform) and related Microsoft services to replace spreadsheet workflows and deliver a secure, scalable, low‑code solution that could be deployed quickly for multiple regional banks.
Using Microsoft Power Apps together with Power Pages, Power Automate, Power BI and Dataverse, EY built a branded borrower portal and lender model‑driven app that integrated Azure services, DocuSign, and third‑party connectors for automated document scanning, verification, and SBA submission. The solution went from prototype to production in 12 weeks, passed InfoSec approvals, and enabled EY to process over 50,000 loans totaling more than $10 billion while providing real‑time dashboards, role‑based security, and faster, auditable loan‑forgiveness processing.
