Electronics company Avnet delivers faster insights to key decision makers through Power BI

Avnet, a global electronics distributor, faced fragmented data and slow, spreadsheet‑based reporting after several acquisitions and long legacy BI development cycles. To modernize reporting and give business users direct access to analytics, Avnet adopted Microsoft Power Apps alongside the Microsoft Power Platform—notably Power BI, Teams, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents—and Azure services to replace manual processes and eliminate IT as a reporting bottleneck.

Using Microsoft Power Apps and the broader Microsoft stack, Avnet implemented Power BI dashboards, Teams‑based data collection and automation, Power Automate refresh flows, and a Power Virtual Agents “PowerBot” for training and support. The Microsoft solution rebuilt a months‑long dashboard in one afternoon, grew report authors from about 40 to 300+, delivered more than 2,000 monthly active users and 90,000 monthly report views, and cut licensing costs by roughly 80%, dramatically speeding time to insight and freeing IT for higher‑value work.
