A Microsoft Power Apps Case Study
ACDI/VOCA, an international economic development nonprofit working in Colombia, struggled with paper-based, manual processes that made it hard to track beneficiaries, threatened oversight of roughly $8 million in programs, and limited data-driven fundraising and trust during a fragile post-conflict transition. To modernize operations and improve transparency, ACDI/VOCA partnered with Microsoft Power Apps and other Microsoft technologies (Power BI, Office 365, Azure) to digitize field workflows and centralize program data.
Using Microsoft Power Apps, ACDI/VOCA deployed offline-capable tablet forms, custom survey tools, a chip “token” system linked to an Azure database, and Power BI dashboards for reporting. The Microsoft Power Apps–driven solution eliminated about 80 hours per month spent reconciling duplicate entries, prevented duplicate aid deliveries, accelerated in-field decision making, and produced clear impact metrics that boosted donor confidence and freed staff to spend more time supporting beneficiaries.
