A Microsoft Power Apps Case Study
The National Treatment Purchase Fund (NTPF) needed a secure, scalable way to manage large and constantly changing patient waiting‑list data across public and private hospitals, enable real‑time access and custom reporting, and meet GDPR requirements. To address these challenges, the NTPF adopted a Microsoft Power Apps‑based approach as part of a new Patient Access Management System (PAMS) to streamline patient assignment, status tracking, and reporting.
Built as a cloud solution using Microsoft technologies, PAMS was delivered rapidly and went live in May 2019; by June it was in use at 40 public and 18 private hospitals. The Microsoft Power Apps–powered system improved visibility of patient journeys, required minimal user training, captured significant patient‑level data, and helped issue over 30,000 Offers of Care to 41 public hospitals by October 2019 (45% accepted), contributing to measurable reductions in waiting times.
