Case Study: ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe achieves modernized workflows and improved productivity with Microsoft Power Apps

A Microsoft Power Apps Case Study

Preview of the ThyssenKrupp Case Study

Digital culture at its core thyssenkrupp Steel Europe forges a modern way of working with Microsoft 365

ThyssenKrupp, a global steel manufacturer, needed to modernize operations across plants and logistics—improving cross-site communication, digitizing paper-based processes, reducing downtime for frontline maintenance, and enabling remote work during COVID-19. To meet these challenges it adopted the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and the Power Platform, including Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, Teams, SharePoint, and Azure Active Directory.

Using Microsoft Power Apps alongside Teams, SharePoint, Power Automate and Power Virtual Agents, ThyssenKrupp built quick, low-code solutions—Teams channels with an automated ETA for Rhine shipments, Teams Walkie Talkie for frontline comms, SharePoint-enabled troubleshooting, Power Apps for safety tests and inventory, and the “Steely” chatbot—plus stronger cloud security with Microsoft Information Protection. The Microsoft Power Apps-driven approach accelerated solution delivery to weeks, supported digital approvals and paperless workflows, reduced scheduling friction and downtime, enabled “Rolling as a Service” deliveries in as little as 48 hours, and scaled adoption via a champions network (20 champions, ~100 early adopters and a Hello Steel 365 community of roughly 1,300 members).
