BrightSpring Health Services develops data-driven response to COVID-19

BrightSpring Health Services, a Louisville-based community healthcare provider serving more than 400,000 patients daily and employing 50,000+ staff, needed to centralize data and rapidly respond to the COVID-19 crisis—tracking cases, triaging exposure, and protecting frontline workers. To meet that challenge, BrightSpring turned to Microsoft Power Apps and other Microsoft solutions (Azure Data Lake Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Power BI) to unify and analyze clinical and workforce data in the cloud.

Using Microsoft Power Apps, BrightSpring IT built a COVID-19 case tracker in a matter of days and a vaccination-tracking MVP in about two weeks, while Azure and Power BI provided real-time dashboards and large-scale analytics; this rapid deployment helped protect 50,000+ employees, supported 12+ months of ongoing surveillance, enabled analysis of petabytes of data, and contributed to seven peer-reviewed papers on COVID-19 best practices.
