Case Study: Ardent Mills achieves paperless, streamlined quality control with Microsoft Power Apps

A Microsoft Power Apps Case Study

Preview of the Ardent Mills Case Study

Ardent Mills uses Microsoft Power Platform to enable a paperless state of the art mill

Ardent Mills, a large North American flour-milling and ingredient company, faced inefficient, paper‑and‑Excel based quality and inspection processes across dozens of plants and wanted to move toward a paperless, state‑of‑the‑art mill. To modernize operations and improve cross‑country team productivity they adopted Microsoft Power Apps and the broader Power Platform (Power Automate, Power BI, SharePoint Online, and a planned move to Dataverse) to digitize forms and reporting.

Using Microsoft Power Apps, business architect Deborah Romero‑Reinig built the Cross Check app (with data in SharePoint Online and plans to shift to Dataverse) and integrated Power BI and Power Automate for reporting and notifications. The solution is live across 35 plants, used monthly by 70+ quality managers and technicians with about 170 checks per month, and has cut manual review time by enforcing complete submissions and automating Power BI refreshes. Microsoft Power Apps has also enabled four live enterprise apps (with more in test or ready to deploy), faster low‑code development, and a growing citizen‑developer community that is expanding digitization and analytics across the company.
