Case Study: American Red Cross cuts supply order time from 3-4 weeks to 4-5 business days with Microsoft Power Apps

A Microsoft Power Apps Case Study

Preview of the American Red Cross Case Study

American Red Cross - Customer Case Study

The American Red Cross was struggling with a paper-based supply-order process used by 650 instructors—orders were lost, instructors had no status updates, and leadership lacked basic usage and order-volume data. Training Specialist Nick Gill adopted Microsoft Power Apps and the wider Power Platform (Power BI and Power Automate/Microsoft Flow) to modernize ordering and reporting without an IT background.

Using Microsoft Power Apps Gill built the “Supply Hub,” a shopping-cart style app backed by SharePoint with Power Automate approvals and email notifications, and connected analytics via Power BI. Piloted with ~200 instructors and rolled out to all 650, the solution cut the order lifecycle from 3–4 weeks to 4–5 business days, provided full visibility into orders and logistics workloads, enabled regular status updates, and spurred additional volunteer-built apps across the organization.
