Zion China, a Beijing-based mobile healthcare and telemedicine provider, faced scalability, analytics, and security challenges as its E-Followup diabetes management system began ingesting high-frequency patient data (more than 3,000 glucose readings per patient per week) from devices, apps, and cloud sources. To modernize the solution it partnered with Microsoft Power BI and the wider Azure suite — including Azure IoT Hub, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Machine Learning, and Azure SQL Database — to tackle real-time data ingestion, predictive analytics, multi-device visualization, and secure persistent storage.

Microsoft Power BI and the Microsoft team re-architected Zion China’s platform by adding IoT Hub for secure device-to-cloud ingestion, Stream Analytics for real-time processing, Azure Machine Learning for proactive glucose prediction, Transparent Data Encryption in Azure SQL Database for security, and Power BI/Power BI Embedded for cross‑device visualization. The new architecture enabled Zion China to handle massive data volumes, reduce the burden of manual analysis, deliver predictive insights to clinicians and patients, and scale more cost‑effectively as it expands into top hospitals and healthcare organizations.
