Case Study: Webjet achieves 90% reduction in booking dispute losses with Microsoft Power BI

A Microsoft Power BI Case Study

Preview of the Webjet Case Study

Webjet uses blockchain to simplify transaction disputes in the travel industry

Webjet, a large online travel company, faced a complex, decentralized hotel booking ecosystem where up to 5% of invoices required reconciliation across multiple parties, creating costly transaction disputes. To address this, Webjet built Rezchain — a blockchain-based reconciliation service running Ethereum on Azure and using Microsoft Power BI alongside other Azure data services to bring transparency and reporting to the booking flow.

Rezchain, deployed with a container-based architecture and Azure Kubernetes Service, creates immutable transaction records and smart-contract alerts so disputes are resolved at or near booking time. With Microsoft Power BI and Azure services supporting integration and analytics, Webjet reports almost 90 percent of disputed transactions resolved without cost, far fewer invoicing losses across its brands, and growing external partner adoption that extends those efficiencies industry-wide.
