Case Study: Al-Farabi Kazakh National University achieves data-driven educational insights with Microsoft Power BI

University introduces cloud technologies into the educational process, saves time and expense

Kazakh National University, one of Kazakhstan’s largest universities (about 4,400 staff and 17,460 students), faced limited capacity and accessibility of its on‑premises email system and needed better remote collaboration and mobility. The university turned to Microsoft cloud solutions—piloting Office 365 ProPlus and planning analytics with Microsoft Power BI—to modernize email, document sharing and the overall educational process.

With partner Softline Group Kazakhstan, the university deployed Office 365 ProPlus in the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty in one month, ran immersion workshops for roughly 300 staff, and achieved 100% email coverage with larger storage and off‑campus access. The move to Microsoft cloud services increased user mobility and collaboration, freed technical resources, reduced administrative tasks and cut time and costs; Kazakh National University is now moving forward with an information‑analytical system based on Microsoft Power BI.
