Case Study: Bahrain Olympic Committee achieves mission-critical financial insight and open-data transparency with Microsoft Power BI

A Microsoft Power BI Case Study

Preview of the Bahrain Olympic Committee Case Study

Unique and powerful use of cloud sets innovative new standards in the public sector

The Bahrain Olympic Committee, the national body that promotes sport and supports 27 sports associations in Bahrain, faced fragmented data across systems and needed to centralize mission‑critical financial information, improve project management, optimize infrastructure and enable public access to open data. To address these challenges the organization adopted Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft Power BI alongside Microsoft Azure, Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL Data Warehouse.

Using Azure to create a hybrid data center, the vendor implemented Azure Data Factory to extract ERP data into Azure SQL Data Warehouse, centralized data collection via SharePoint on Azure, and used Microsoft Power BI to build interactive reports and mobile dashboards; a gamification league encouraged the 27 associations to publish open data. The Microsoft Power BI‑driven solution delivered fast, accurate budget‑vs‑spend visibility for executives, opened data to the public, was rapidly deployed and cost‑effective, and now supports the Bahrain Olympic Committee’s 110‑person organization and its 27 associations to improve strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.
