UFA modernizes vital retail and fueling solutions with SAP on Azure

United Farmers of Alberta Co-operative Ltd, a large Canadian farm and ranch supply cooperative, was struggling with an on-premises SAP estate that had reached capacity and caused performance problems and outages (notably during fuel reconciliation). To modernize retail and fueling systems and prepare for Dynamics 365, UFA engaged Microsoft Power BI technologies alongside Azure and partner Qnovate to move its SAP landscape to the cloud.

Working with Qnovate on Microsoft Power BI and Azure services, UFA migrated its SAP workloads to Azure in six weeks, restoring stability and boosting end-user performance by about 2.5×. The move eliminated outages, cut environment refresh times from three weeks to three days, grew the SAP data footprint to more than 70 TB, and enabled faster rollout of projects like the myUFA portal—while avoiding costly hardware refreshes and lowering maintenance overhead.
