Turkish NGO breaks new ground, leading digital transformation in the third sector

Turkish Red Crescent, Turkey’s largest humanitarian NGO with 151 years of service, presence in 81 cities, and operations in 78 countries, needed to modernize operations for faster, more transparent disaster response and better engagement with volunteers and donors. To drive its 2020–2030 strategy the organization partnered with Microsoft Power BI and adopted Microsoft 365 tools (including Power BI, Teams, SharePoint and Azure) to create a traceable, secure digital backbone across its 8,000+ staff and widespread volunteer network.

Using Microsoft Power BI alongside Teams, SharePoint and Azure, the vendor helped centralize data, enable real‑time collaboration, and automate reporting so units can build their own dashboards and managers get timely insights. The platform was built in four weeks, supported 300–400 volunteer translators for an Ottoman-to‑Turkish Latinization project and produced about 20,000 translated letters, while the Microsoft Power BI–enabled reporting reduced manual workloads, improved transparency and secured 1,000 Microsoft 365 seats to scale digital operations.
