A Microsoft Power BI Case Study
Tryg, a leading Scandinavian property and casualty insurer, faced a fragmented IT landscape after multiple mergers—57 different systems and hardware that couldn’t scale—limiting its ability to access real‑time data and become more customer‑centric. To modernize analytics and reporting, Tryg adopted Microsoft Power BI alongside a cloud migration to Azure, aiming to consolidate data and enable more personalized customer service.
Using Azure services (including Apache Kafka for HDInsight, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Active Directory) and Microsoft Power BI for visualization, Tryg centralized streaming and historical data, exposed it via APIs, and shifted processing to scalable cloud containers. The move delivered measurable gains—at least a 30% improvement in key processes so far with a projected 50% efficiency increase as they mature—faster time to spin up workloads versus months for on‑prem hardware, reduced development and integration costs, and better analytics to drive personalized customer interactions.
