Transport for NSW uses Agile Analytics and Azure to harness the power of data and improve customer services across New South Wales

Transport for NSW, the New South Wales government agency that oversees buses, ferries, light rail and metro services, needed to ingest, store and analyze massive, fast-moving datasets—sometimes arriving every 10 seconds—to monitor operator performance and improve customer services. To meet that challenge it engaged partner Agile Analytics to implement a Microsoft Azure–based data platform and reporting layer using Microsoft Power BI.

Agile Analytics delivered its Data Insights solution on Azure—using Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory and Azure Analysis Services—with Microsoft Power BI dashboards shared with operators. The solution ingests millions of data points a day (including 10‑second interval feeds), scales for both data-at-rest and in-motion, enables drill-down to every trip and stop, and provides full transparency on contractual performance so Transport for NSW can identify endemic issues and drive improvements.
