Toshiba uses IOT data services to keep customers up and running

Toshiba faced high customer downtime and costly break/fix service for its multifunction printers and needed a way to monitor device health remotely and preempt failures. Partnering with Microsoft Power BI and Azure PaaS technologies, Toshiba developed e-BRIDGE CloudConnect and the CloudConnect Data Service to collect IoT telemetry from thousands of devices and surface analytics for faster diagnosis and automated actions.

Microsoft Power BI was used to visualize device health and repair-history insights while Azure SQL Data Warehouse and related Azure services powered the analytics layer; together these solutions let Toshiba remotely self-correct some issues, preemptively dispatch technicians with correct parts, and tighten its supply chain. The result: improved device uptime, reduced service costs, the ability to support a growing fleet without expanding the technician team, and a dramatically faster delivery cadence (about eight weeks to launch versus a typical 8–10 months).
