Case Study: PayPoint achieves real-time operational insights and faster issue resolution with Microsoft Power BI

A Microsoft Power BI Case Study

Preview of the PayPoint Case Study

The great enabler, revolutionising IT at PayPoint

PayPoint, the UK’s leading omnichannel payments business and recognised critical national infrastructure, faced a surge in demand during the COVID‑19 pandemic (contactless payments rose more than 30%) while needing to move large parts of its operation to remote working, secure authentication and better service monitoring. To meet these challenges it adopted the Microsoft technology stack — including Microsoft Power BI, Azure, Azure Logic Apps, Microsoft Teams, Windows 10 and Microsoft 365 — to modernise its IT, improve security and enable rapid remote collaboration.

Using Microsoft Power BI alongside Azure services and Log Analytics, PayPoint migrated key workloads to the cloud, deployed secure two‑factor authentication, and brought 650 staff onto Teams within two weeks; it moved EPOS and acquired workloads with no retailer downtime, trained 60+ staff on Azure, consolidated infrastructure (one datacentre slated for retirement in 2022) and achieved faster issue detection and recovery through Power BI dashboards. Microsoft Power BI delivered real‑time visibility that helped drive agility, stronger security and measurable cost and operational efficiencies, putting PayPoint roughly 12 months ahead on compute modernisation.
