Telstra, Australia’s leading telecommunications company with 10,000+ employees across 20+ countries, needed to modernize collaboration and enable flexible, mobile working. Facing end-of-support on on‑premises email and collaboration tools, restricted mobile access, tiny 150 MB mailboxes, and disparate regional tools, Telstra chose Microsoft Power BI as part of a broader Microsoft Office 365 deployment (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, PowerApps, Flow, Yammer) to deliver a standardized, mobile productivity toolkit.

Using Microsoft Power BI alongside Office 365 services and FastTrack/Microsoft Consulting support, Telstra migrated 1.8 billion email messages to Exchange Online with a 99% success rate, provisioned 100 GB mailboxes (eliminating weekly archiving), and consolidated collaboration—about 900 Teams channels spanning roughly 6,000 users—so teams can chat, call, share documents and view Power BI dashboards in one place. The Microsoft Power BI–enabled solution boosted mobility and productivity, streamlined acquisition integrations, simplified compliance and security, and increased employee engagement across the global workforce.
