Telstra, Australia’s largest telecommunications company, needed to simplify operations and speed field recovery amid crises like the 2019–20 bushfires, floods, and COVID‑19. To give thousands of technicians faster access to data and tools, Telstra adopted Microsoft Power BI alongside Microsoft Teams, Power Apps, Power Automate and Microsoft 365 E3, and empowered “citizen developers” to tackle frontline process bottlenecks.
Using Microsoft Power BI to inform decisions and Power Apps/Teams to deliver a one‑stop experience called Technician Plus, Telstra’s Field Digitalization Team and the wider Power Factory built more than 77 apps and 11 solutions in three months. The Microsoft Power BI–backed solution returned 10 million minutes to the business, enabled ~1,000 new loyalty sign‑ups per week, streamlined disaster inspections and resource allocation, and generated substantial financial and operational benefits.
