Case Study: MatrixCare achieves comprehensive, longitudinal senior-care insights with Microsoft Power BI

Taking to the cloud to bring the full health picture for seniors into focus

MatrixCare, a leading provider of long-term and post-acute care (LTPAC) technology used in more than 13,000 facility-based settings and 2,500 home care organizations, faced fragmented "islands" of patient data across hospitals, skilled nursing, home health and ancillary services. To support a shift to value-based care and provide caregivers a single longitudinal record, MatrixCare selected Microsoft Power BI along with Microsoft Azure and SQL Server for a secure, scalable analytics and cloud platform.

Using Microsoft Power BI, MatrixCare migrated virtual machines to Azure IaaS in about 60 days and built MyAnalytics (Power BI dashboards with data refreshed every 15 minutes from SQL Server and Oracle) and the CareCommunity care‑coordination platform, which integrates EMR/EHR data and connects to 500+ telehealth devices. The solution improved visibility into census, revenue, readmission and quality measures, reduced duplicate tests and operational costs (validated by a TCO analysis from partners 3Cloud and Crayon), and gives caregivers, clinicians and families a single, scalable view of patient care across settings.
