Milliman Consulting, a global actuarial and consulting firm, needed to modernize its actuarial modeling and reporting because legacy systems couldn’t scale for large data volumes, compressed reporting timelines, and growing regulatory complexity. To deliver a pay-as-you-go, scalable analytics experience within its Integrate platform, Milliman integrated Microsoft Power BI technologies—specifically Power BI Embedded—alongside Azure services to give clients immersive, governed business intelligence without leaving the system.

Milliman built Integrate on Azure (using Azure Data Factory, HDInsight, Azure Analysis Services, SQL Server) and embedded Microsoft Power BI to provide interactive dashboards, self-service reporting, row-level security, and single sign-on. The solution cut one client’s manual tasks from 900 to 44, reduced quarterly reporting from four months to three days, and paid for itself three times over in three years, while improving risk visibility, operational efficiency, and user-driven decision making.
