SWICA moves to the cloud with Azure Synapse Analytics and Power BI

SWICA, one of Switzerland’s largest health and accident insurance companies, needed a way to manage highly sensitive data while balancing security, compliance, collaboration, and scalability. Already using Microsoft Power BI, SWICA looked to Microsoft to help move beyond its on-premises, legacy analytics environment and support a more modern, cloud-based approach.

Microsoft implemented Azure Synapse Analytics alongside Power BI to create a unified, decentralized data and analytics platform with Azure Data Lake, Microsoft Purview, and Power BI datasets. The new setup improved data accessibility, supported self-service reporting for business users, and reduced bottlenecks in dashboard creation, while laying the groundwork for faster decision-making and future AI-driven insights.
