Sulekha - Customer Case Study

Sulekha is one of India’s largest digital marketplaces, connecting tens of millions of users with local service providers across hundreds of categories, but its on‑premises infrastructure could not handle the scale — roughly 35 million unique visits per month and about 358,000 JSON documents created daily. To modernize, Sulekha migrated to Microsoft Azure services, adopting Azure DocumentDB (now Azure Cosmos DB) for its JSON store and using other Azure components including Azure Stream Analytics and Microsoft Power BI for real‑time insights.

Using Azure DocumentDB as the core database gave Sulekha flexible schema, familiar SQL‑style querying, low administrative overhead and easy scaling, enabling weekly product releases without a dedicated sysadmin. The Microsoft stack (with Microsoft Power BI dashboards fed by Stream Analytics) supports peak loads of more than 36 hits/second, about 60–80 GB of new data per day, ~60,000 request units across collections, and drives ~20,000 leads daily — delivering faster development, reliable scale, and measurable operational improvements backed by Microsoft support.
