A Microsoft Power BI Case Study
Suffolk, a large U.S. construction firm, needed to keep jobsites safe and maintain fast, reliable communication during the COVID-19 crisis while reducing the number of devices workers carried. To meet that challenge the company adopted Microsoft Power BI alongside Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Forms, Microsoft 365 and the Teams Walkie Talkie app to streamline screening and field communications.
Using Microsoft Power BI, Suffolk linked thermal imaging cameras to a dedicated Teams channel and QR-coded Microsoft Forms so temperature and screening responses feed into a Power BI dashboard; they also deployed the Teams Walkie Talkie app on durable devices to replace multiple radios and phones. The result: screening time dropped from nearly an hour to a few minutes, cross-site communication became real-time, and device count — and total cost of ownership — fell, improving safety and efficiency across Suffolk jobsites.
