A Microsoft Power BI Case Study

Preview of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Tasmanian State Government Case Study

State government delivers its first cloud solution in just two months with help from Unified Support

The Department of Premier and Cabinet, Tasmanian State Government needed to quickly launch Ticket to Play, an online program delivering $100 vouchers to increase sports participation among 5–17‑year‑olds, but no off‑the‑shelf solution existed. Working with Microsoft Power BI and leveraging Azure, Power BI, and Microsoft’s Unified Support, the department secured rapid cloud training and technical backing to build the service in‑house.

Using Azure, Power BI and onsite Azure Modern Apps training plus Unified Support from Microsoft Power BI, DPAC developed and deployed the cloud voucher system in two months; the service went live in February 2019 and saw almost 3,000 registrations within days and 5,024 vouchers issued by the end of May. More than 5,000 students used vouchers in the first six months, and Unified Support gave DPAC the flexibility to transfer solution management across departments and get fast production support.
