A Microsoft Power BI Case Study
St. Luke’s University Health Network, a 10-hospital system serving about a million people across Pennsylvania and New Jersey, needed to modernize fragmented communications, replace manual clinical workflows, improve patient experience, and secure mobile access while reducing shadow IT. To support its digital health transformation it deployed Microsoft 365 technologies — including Microsoft Teams, Power Apps and Microsoft Power BI — to centralize collaboration, automate processes, and strengthen security.
Using Microsoft Power BI as part of a broader Microsoft 365 deployment, SLUHN automated patient-experience audits (Forms → Power Apps → Power BI) so managers can slice results by facility or provider and clinicians receive secure scores by text; Teams became the clinical collaboration hub, replacing multiple apps and integrating with EMR and scheduling. The changes moved monitoring from bi-weekly to real time (e.g., the VTE quality pilot), improved compliance tracking, reduced clinician cognitive load, and increased productivity and job satisfaction within an 18-month transformation.
