Serving Syrian IDPs and refugees with the Help of Cloud Technology

Assistance Coordination Unit (ACU), a Turkey‑based nonprofit supporting Syrian internally displaced people and refugees, struggled with on‑premise servers that went offline during frequent electricity and internet cuts, slowing delivery of mission‑critical data to humanitarian partners. With support from Microsoft Power BI (alongside Azure and Office 365 Enterprise), ACU needed to move its EWARN and IMU systems to the cloud to ensure timely access to crisis information across dispersed teams.

Microsoft Power BI helped ACU migrate to Azure, implement Power BI dashboards and Office 365 collaboration tools, and provided developer licenses to scale the solution. The move has enabled ACU to produce more than 45 reports annually (15+ flash reports and 25+ periodic reports) and slashed report preparation time from about a month to one to two days, speeding critical data delivery to organizations such as WHO and UNICEF and advancing ACU toward real‑time crisis monitoring.
