George Emil Palade University of Medicine faced an urgent need to digitize collaboration and administrative workflows when COVID-19 forced remote learning; the institution had relied on on‑premises email and paper processes. To respond, the university adopted Microsoft Power BI alongside Microsoft 365 tools—Teams for Education, Forms, Power Automate, SharePoint and Power Apps—to enable remote teaching, streamline interactions, and automate paperwork.

Using Microsoft Power BI and the broader Microsoft 365 suite, UMFST deployed Teams in two weeks, automated thesis submissions with Forms, SharePoint and Power Automate, and used Power Apps to speed up certificate issuance, with Power BI providing submission statistics and dashboards. The solution cut thesis submission time by about 75%, sped academic feedback by more than 75%, improved graduation‑certificate processing by over 80%, and centralized scholarship documentation for greater transparency.
