Case Study: Provincial Health Services Authority improves health data access and insights with Microsoft Power BI and Azure

A Microsoft Power BI Case Study

Provincial Health Services Authority - Customer Case Study

Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), British Columbia’s largest health organization, needed a faster, more secure way to access and share sensitive health data across silos and support urgent decision-making during COVID-19. Working with Microsoft Power BI as part of its broader Microsoft Azure-based analytics platform, PHSA sought to replace slow, manual data request processes with a centralized, standardized approach to analytics and reporting.

Microsoft helped PHSA build the Platform for Analytics and Data (PANDA) on Azure, with Power BI and SharePoint adding collaboration and analytics capabilities. The new platform keeps health data in Canada and meets BC privacy and security requirements, while dramatically speeding up access to insights: requests that once took months can now be fulfilled in days. PHSA also gained scalable infrastructure and stronger data governance, enabling faster, more informed clinical and operational decisions.
