Precision Diagnostics, a San Diego clinical lab that processes more than 1,500 body‑fluid samples a day, needed to turn dozens of data points per sample into actionable insights for clinicians addressing behavioral‑health issues such as the opioid epidemic. To aggregate, secure, and visualize that data, the lab built its Precision Analytics platform using Microsoft Power BI together with Azure services (Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Active Directory).

Using Microsoft Power BI and Azure, Precision Diagnostics connected disparate data sources and its lab information management system to interactive dashboards within weeks, supported HIPAA compliance, and enabled geographic mapping and population‑level views of drug prevalence. The solution surfaced previously undetected low‑level drug results, reduced manual patient‑by‑patient review for clinicians, improved insurer oversight, and delivers continuous cloud updates that enhance analytics and operational efficiency.
